dōTERRA Essential Oils

  • What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of the plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of freshly cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. Essential oils can lift the mood, calm the senses, help you heal, and elicit powerful emotional responses.

  • Why Use Essential Oils?

I love essential oils and have been using them for many years. Essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Pure essential oils are a natural alternative to chemical products that support wellness and can soothe many health concerns. Oils are adaptogenic and designed to go into the body and work with the body’s biochemistry to create balance and to promote vitality and well-being. Essential oils are naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-parasitic, and anti-fungal. They are also a great alternative for people who have trouble swallowing pills.

  • Why dōTERRA?

It's important to choose high quality oils from a trusted company. dōTERRA are certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils. They do not contain fillers or artificial ingredients that would dilute their active qualities and are free of contaminants such as pesticides or other chemical residues.

Therapeutic-grade essential oils are most often extracted via a low-heat steam distillation process in which steam is circulated under pressure through plant material, liberating the essential oils into the steam. Equally important is the meticulous selection of correct plant species and plant parts and to harvest at the perfect moment when their essential oil compounds are most concentrated.

  • How are Essential Oils Used?

Essential oils can be used in one of three ways:
    1. Aromatically: The most therapeutic and safest way to use essential oils is by either adding a few drops with water into a diffuser or inhaling the scent directly from the bottle. Once smelled, it goes straight into your olfactory system that’s connected to the brain.
    2. Topically for immediate systemic response: Apply to your skin directly, in a massage oil, in baths, compresses, or mouthwash.
    3. Internally: Ingesting as a dietary supplement or to add flavor to foods. Not all essential oils are safe to ingest though, so please check with me before doing so.
